A lot of stuff happens in and around The Ancient and Revered Ospidillo Grotto. Sometimes with people, sometimes with critters, but it's always interesting. Here are a few pics that relate to Grotto life in the Appalachian foothills. Unfortunately, my best photos are recorded on 35 mm transparencies and on B & W negatives. I have thousands of them but I'll eventually devise some means of getting them on here. I was lucky to have studied photography under two master photojournalists while I worked part-time as a columnist and photographer back in the early 1980s: Dave Stroble of Wilmington, Delaware and Ray Savicuinus of Akron, Ohio. Those guys were awesome.
When I read about something interesting to me, either in novels or in non-fiction, I typically launch a sojourn to find out more about it. It's a great way to study history. I also study local history and the anthropology of local cultures, including the one right here in my own back yard.
The Grottomaster likes to travel around botanizing, spying rare birds and snatching great recipes from unsuspecting chefs. It's interesting to see the country, but I find that people are much the same regardless of where one goes.
