DEJA VU ALL OVER AGAIN

Postby Jack of Hearts » Sun Oct 04, 2009 1:20 pm

Republicans refuse to follow the mandate of the people in obstructing the change they voted for, and the Democrats refuse to follow their leader. Things don't look good for neither the short, nor long haul.
The selfish 'baby boomers', who are now running the country, will be slowly replaced by the 'me generation'.
It doesn't matter who's in charge, they'll only be looking out for themselves for a long time to come.

We're old enough to remember what happens when the people demand change, and the govt. is unresponsive.
People cry out things such as, "Burn Baby Burn", and the militia will point their guns on those who protest.
The continued polarization of wealth in this country has hollowed out the middle class by expanding the space between those poles - and it will be a much larger spark that will arc across this country.
Things do not bode well for America.

Not to worry Jack, the Obama administration is but a transient and America will be fine despite his tenure in office. We survived and thrived after Jimmy Carter, we will survive and thrive after Obama.

Read all about it: http://www.kansascity.com/business/story/1437659.html
The percentage of Americans that aren't surviving and thriving is getting larger, and at a faster rate.
You think this continuing trend is not going to have a very significant social impact. I disagree.
Violent crime, gang wars, drug use, and civil unrest is on the rise. The fist fights on the gas station lines during the Carter years will be pale in comparison to what may come. Civil disobedience is sure to rise.

Obama is in the same boat as was Nixon - "Change we can believe in" is just another "Peace with honor". Again, it just won't happen. Today's war will end as Vietnam - it'll drag on and until we finally leave with our tail between our legs - there's nothing to indicate otherwise. California is already bankrupt giving out IOU's instead of money owed. Other states, and some cities will follow. Believe me when I say, things will become pretty ugly.

You think Republicans will return to save the day. Oh, they'll return alright, by lying through their teeth.
Obama at least is trying, albeit unsuccessfully, to fulfill his promises. The Republicans will come up with another "I'm a uniter, not divider" type, cut taxes, deregulate, and rape the land, lying all the while for as long as they can get away with it - then let the chips fall where they may. Oh, yes, things will get ugly.

You may be right Jack, but I am not that pessimistic. We have gone through hard times before and survived them and I think, despite well intended but misguided souls like Obama, we will continue to survive and prosper.

I am hopeful Obama will be a one term President. I believe the people are already recognizing the direction he and Nancy and Harry want to take the country.
